THE MISSION

Welcome to the WIP Project - a free online database of female, non-binary & gender non-conforming dance music up and comers, and industry professionals.

We’re here to unite bookers, artists, and the wider dance community in the common goal of improving diversity and equality through sharing our talents, and championing those who need it.

WIP project started out as a spreadsheet of artists that grew, and grew. The spreadsheet was shared hundreds of times across the internet, and so the progression to creating this site felt natural and necessary.

We acknowledge that many genres of dance music that are played, produced and profited off of today originated from BIPOC and LGBTQ communities. At WIP Project we believe the voices of artists belonging to those communities should be centered in the strive for true diversity in the dance music industry.

Whilst operating, attending and participating in dance music events on the stolen land of First Nations’ people, we encourage our wider community to acknowledge that sovereignty is yet to be reinstated. The WIP Project encourages all of our network to continuously challenge the structures that are currently in place in order to achieve increased accessibility and advancement of Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and Māori artists.

We wholeheartedly believe that until there is equality in the opportunities that members of the community are given, we must take conscious steps to uplift female and GNC talent.
