WIP Project Feature Designer - Rupa Anurendra

Melbourne

DESIGNER

Hi Rupa, tell us about yourself.

I'm a graphic designer originally from Malaysia, settled in Northcote. I'm still trying to figure out my own style, but design is something that has been with me for a long time. I've been exposed to the scene from a young age, having an artist for a dad and doing design work for him as a teenager, but until Year 12, I thought I was going to be studying to be a doctor. Doing visual communication design as a subject in high school made me realise that it was actually something that I could pursue, and from there everything kinda fell into place.

Do you have any new work coming out that you'd like to tell us about?

I'm working on a couple of personal projects at the moment, one of them that I'm really excited about is a series of zines on things like love, plants, and cooking, each one including a mix to go with the zine. I'm super keen to work on these with my friends and have a mix with them when lockdown is over.

What’s your favourite record at the moment and why?

What's Your Shrine? by Pilgrims Of The Mind - it's sooo good.

What’s the last really fun thing you did?

Had a phone call first date... was super nice.

How do you practice self care?

I do yoga every day, I try to go on mindful walks, and dedicate time to just sit and be. I'm trying to learn how to appreciate alone time and all of these things really help. Long, hot showers also help.

What or who inspires you?

My dad, all the girl bosses in my life, Caterina Bianchini to name a few.
